Marking Three Decades of Success and Giving Back to the Sheffield Community

This year, Anna Maher celebrates a significant milestone: 30 years in the recruitment industry!

As the founder and director of Anna Maher Recruitment, Anna has played a key role in helping countless candidates connect with meaningful job opportunities, while also building lasting relationships with clients across a variety of industries. Reflecting on her career, Anna is also focusing on giving back to the city that has supported her journey throughout these three decades.

“While the world of recruitment has evolved, from window cards and classified ads to AI-driven talent sourcing, what hasn’t changed is the importance of personal connection,” says Anna. “Although technology has made our work more efficient, nothing beats the value of picking up the phone or meeting someone in person to truly understand both the needs of candidates and clients.”

Over the years, Anna has witnessed how the recruitment landscape has shifted, with a stronger emphasis on branding, community engagement, and a deeper understanding of candidate expectations. As Anna notes, “Today’s candidates are looking for more than just a job, they want to know what a company stands for and how it aligns with their values. A recruiter’s brand must reflect those values if they are to attract the right people.”

To celebrate her 30 years of success, Anna is hosting a special charity event on June 5th, 2025, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Sheffield. This event is a chance to reflect on Anna’s remarkable career while supporting a cause that is very close to her heart, St. Luke's Hospice.

St. Luke's is a local Sheffield charity that has provided vital care and support for individuals facing terminal illness for over 40 years. “St. Luke’s means so much to the people of Sheffield,” Anna explains. “Their compassionate care offers comfort to patients and families during the most difficult times, and I’m proud to support such an incredible charity.”

The celebration will include a raffle of prizes donated from the Sheffield business community, with all proceeds going directly to St. Luke’s. The evening will also feature delicious canapés and plenty of opportunities to network with local business leaders, reflect on Anna’s accomplishments, and raise money for this important cause.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support the Sheffield community has shown me throughout the years,” says Anna. “This event is our way of giving back and making a difference in the lives of those who need it most. We hope you’ll join us in celebrating this milestone and supporting St. Luke’s Hospice.”

For those unable to attend, there are still ways to contribute. Donations can be made or raffle tickets bought directly to St. Luke’s via the event’s JustGiving page, and additional fundraising initiatives will be held throughout the year by Anna Maher Recruitment.
