HR Advisor & Trainer

Location: Hybrid - Sheffield City Centre

Salary: £35k to 40k

Type: Permanent - Hybrid - 4 to 5 days a week - full time or part time

About the role

My client is looking to recruit an HR Advisor & Trainer to join their team based in Sheffield.  You will also have the opportunity to work from home once or twice per week and have flexibility of your working hours once you pass your probationary period.

As part of the HR team, you will:

  • Deliver generalist HR advice to organisations of various sizes across all sectors, communicating pragmatic and tailored advice to all clients.
  • Draft and prepare documents such as contracts of employment, policies, procedures and letters and other documents.
  • Look after the HR needs of your own group of clients who use their retained HR services.
  • Design, deliver and evaluate high-impact training sessions for clients across diverse sectors, covering both core HR topics and tailored development needs.
  • Collaborate with clients to identify training needs and create bespoke learning solutions aligned with business goals.
  • Liaise with clients and external providers in relation to contracts, funding opportunities, and tenders to support the effective delivery of training.
  • Manage and strengthen client relationships through ongoing L&D support, ensuring services remain responsive and relevant.
  • Develop high standards of training materials and resources, including presentations, learning booklets, interactive tasks and post-training follow-ups.
  • Provide support to clients with investigation, grievance, disciplinary and other sensitive matters.
  • Provide interim HR support when required on client sites and remotely.
  • Provide generalist advice on an employment law/HR helpline that we provide to the hospitality trade.
  • Participate in business development initiatives, including online and in-person networking, training and events.

What you will bring to the role

  • 2+ years’ practical experience in an HR advisory role where you supported and/or delivered training on issues around the employee lifecycle.
  • Up to date knowledge of HR and training best practice and preferably also employment law from recruitment to termination.
  • Experience designing and delivering engaging training for a variety of audiences, both in-person and remotely.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently at all levels.
  • A practical and cost-effective approach mindset on solutions to meet our clients’ needs.
  • Adaptability and willingness to handle client issues across a variety of industry sectors.
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to participate and take ownership of the firm’s business development activities in Sheffield.
  • Commercial awareness and experience contributing to tenders, discussing funding opportunities, and aligning training solutions with business goals.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, and work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate.
  • Awareness of different cultures, backgrounds, and objectives, coupled with an inclusive and collaborative working style.
  • Confidence in working autonomously, while building and maintaining positive working relationships with clients and peers.
